The Challenge

Designing robots to be approachable and acceptable to humans involves a nuanced understanding of psychological factors such as trust, familiarity, and perceived intent.

The Aescape massage robot incorporates precise aesthetics, clear communication through visual and auditory cues, and predictable behaviors to foster a sense of comfort and trust in new and emerging robotic systems applications.

The Experience

Take a minute to slowly breathe in hinoki scented wisps as your autonomous robotic massage experience begins.
Your torso, arms, legs, and head, cradled by supple leather, melt into a custom embroidered bed and plush donut ottoman. Directed by an array of cameras, Aescape’s robotic arms do their work while you instinctually tap the screen in the center of the ottoman for a few special requests - increase pressure to your desired liking, and work deeply on an especially tense knot by your shoulders.

Aescape effortlessly and instantly accommodates.

Your on-screen experience shifts to your favorite Netflix show as you’re kneaded by the most skilled arms you’ve ever met. They don’t get tired or take breaks, and you already know you won’t even have to tip afterward.
